Sally Embelton,
Senior Policy and Project Officer

Sally has been working at the Centre since March 2019, and is based in Brisbane.

Sally works across all of the Centre’s activities, including management of the National Pro Bono Professional Indemnity Insurance Scheme and the ExpertsDirect Pro Bono Service. She meets regularly with lawyers who are eager to establish or develop a pro bono practice. Sally spearheaded the Centre’s climate initiative, and is a key part of the team delivering the annual National Pro Bono Target reports and the biennial National Law Firm Pro Bono Survey report.

Prior to joining the Centre, Sally worked for over three years as a litigation lawyer at Australian Government Solicitor. She also has many years of experience working and volunteering within the access to justice sector, including at the Refugee and Immigration Legal Service, Caxton Legal Centre, and LawRight. As a university student, Sally interned at the Australian Law Reform Commission and volunteered with the Australian Red Cross. She also has several years of experience working as a law clerk at mid-tier and boutique commercial law firms.

Sally holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland. She is passionate about her work at the Centre promoting pro bono within the Australian legal profession.
