The Centre’s new intern: Lesley Ng
Lesley is currently completing her fifth and final year of a dual Arts/Law degree. She has previously completed an internship with the in-house legal counsel of KONE Elevators, with an emphasis on construction law and employment law. More recently, she has been employed as a paralegal at Lionheart Lawyers, primarily providing support in areas of commercial, family and personal injury law.
With an interest in the work of policy officers in the legal profession and in particular the non-profit sector, Lesley has joined the Centre to learn more about the day-to-day work of non-profit organisations as well as the difficulties they face.
She is looking forward to learning about challenges for pro bono service providers and how the Centre’s initiatives are reducing these barriers and increasing the visibility of pro bono work in the legal profession. In doing so, she hopes her experience at the Centre will enable her to better understand the role of policy and advocacy in effecting positive change for the socially disadvantaged.
In addition to assisting her future delivery of pro bono services, Lesley is also seeking to use her time at the centre to learn about the various ways she can use her degree to advance social causes.
