The Australian Pro Bono Centre is the national centre of leadership for pro bono legal services, aiming to grow participation and excellence in pro bono. It is a charity registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ABN 13102444557) and has been in operation for over 20 years.
The Centre fosters and measures growth in pro bono legal work across Australia through the National Pro Bono Target. It also provides world-leading resources to support pro bono practices and has deep connections with the international pro bono community. It has a mandate to activate new and existing pro bono legal professionals, equip those professionals with practical tool and resources, and connect members of the pro bono ecosystem through collaboration and best-practice sharing.
The Centre is principally funded by the governments of the Commonwealth and all states and territories, with in-kind support from the Commonwealth Attorney-General’s Department, Australian Government Solicitor, private firms, volunteers and the Faculty of Law & Justice at UNSW Sydney.
The Centre also welcomes philanthropic support to allow it to better fulfil its mandate to grow participation and excellence in pro bono legal services. With additional funding, the Centre can support and encourage more pro bono legal work for the most vulnerable in our communities. Please note that the Centre does not presently have deductible gift recipient status.
If you would like to donate to the Centre – either directly or by way of a bequest – please contact our CEO, Gabriela Christian-Hare, at info@probonocentre.org.au.
