1,375 hours of pro bono performed under the Centre’s PI scheme

Corporate, government and volunteer lawyers performed 1,375 hours of pro bono legal work under the Centre’s National PI Insurance Scheme in the second half of 2017. The hours were performed by 108 lawyers and 8 paralegals involved in 72 projects. In this article, we highlight the work of the Multicultural Services Centre of Western Australia.

Pro bono hours more than double under the Centre’s PI Insurance Scheme

One hundred and fifteen lawyers and fifteen paralegals insured under the National PI Insurance Scheme performed a staggering total of 2,244.7 pro bono hours between 1 January to 30 June 2017, more than double the hours reported in the previous 6-month period ending 31 December 2016.

Firms on NSW Government Legal Services Panel due to report for the first time on their pro bono performance 

In July 2016, the New South Wales (NSW) Government included pro bono conditions in its new whole-of-government NSW Legal Services Panel arrangements. Firms will in July 2017 for the first time be reporting on their pro bono work in NSW – a direct result of these new NSW tender rules.
