12 August 2020
On Tuesday 11 August 2020, the In-House Corporate Lawyers Committee of the Law Society of NSW and the Australian Pro Bono Centre held a virtual event for in-house corporate and government lawyers to discuss and celebrate the opening of the National Pro Bono Target to in-house lawyers. The event consisted of a webcast, Q&A session and a virtual exhibition session.
Speakers included Rebekah Hunter (Chair, Law Society of NSW’s In-House Corporate Lawyers Committee), Leigh Simmonds (Chair, Australian IMPACT2030 Council), Elizabeth Carroll (Chief Legal Counsel, IP Australia), Jon Downes (Head of Legal – Asia-Pacific, Willis Towers Watson), Gabriela Christian-Hare (CEO, Australian Pro Bono Centre), and Jessica Hatherall (Head of Policy & Strategy, Australian Pro Bono Centre).
The speakers discussed a range of issues including:

- How the Target aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals
- Importance of senior leadership support
- Steps to take to meet the Target
- Matching skills and opportunities
Participants were also given the opportunity to ask additional questions in a virtual exhibition with the Australian Pro Bono Centre’s Sally Embelton (Senior Policy and Project Officer) and Anna Jacobs (Secondee Policy and Project Officer).
The Centre would like to thank all the attendees for joining us.
