Four thousand solicitors in Queensland (out of a total of 11,000) reported doing 290,000 hours of pro bono work in the 2015-2016 year.
Professor George Williams AO has been the Dean of the UNSW Faculty of Law since June this year. But perhaps less known about his career is the large amount of pro bono legal work that he has done since being admitted to the NSW Bar just over twenty years ago.
The Centre congratulates AusLSA on the launch its 2016 Legal Sector Sustainability Insight report, the first of its sustainability reports to specifically include pro bono within the reporting framework.
Each month in ‘By the Book’, we will highlight content from the new editions of the Centre’s flagship publications. In this first instalment we highlight two of the new partnership case studies in the latest edition of ‘What Works’. These are Refugee Advice and Casework Services and Henry Davis York, and the LegalPod (Queensland Public Interest Law Clearing House).
